The Berwick Fabric Sofa is a Classic, comfortable, deep sofa made with fixed back and seat cushions. It is truly beautiful to behold, very comfortable, curvy and quintessentially English.

The Berwick Fabric Sofa is ideal for those of us who like to curl up in a deep comfortable sofa. Although our standard size is very deep at 102cm, we can make the Berwick less deep and with seat buttons and fixed seat instead.

This sofa is a stayer and will last a lifetime. We supply it in 8 standard sizes but it can be tailored to your own requirements whether you are making a bold statement or whether your tastes are more conservative.
The arms have an elegant, large scroll which gives this sofa its classic looks. It seats comfortably  and can be made to fit any space. It may also be supplied with seat buttons, in leather or customer’s own material. The legs can be one of our many designs with castors or wood.  We are happy to supply the legs in any natural wood colour you wish or painted to any colour of your choice.

The history:  The Berwick Sofa is named after the historic border market town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, a famous town which, during the wars between England and Scotland, changed sides 14 times. By the 13th century, it was Scotland's greatest seaport and its largest and wealthiest town.  The port thrived on the export of wool, grain and salmon, and traders from Germany and Flanders set up home and businesses in the town to create a major international commercial centre, described by one medieval writer as the "Alexandria of the North".

The manufacturing:
The Berwick Sofa is handcrafted in England by Master Craftsmen with decades of experience in high quality furniture manufacturing using traditional materials and methods.
Every piece is made to order and double checked to make sure that your furniture serves you for years to come.          
During the manufacturing we only use the highest quality solid beech hardwood frames. All our furniture joints are dowelled and glued. Stress points are also screwed to ensure durability. The seat platforms are webbed with high-tension webbing.

Where cushions are used, they are filled with either memory foam or reflex fibre although other options like feather are also available according to your personal needs and for optimum comfort.

Covering materials: It can be covered as shown here in fabric or in leather, waterproof materials or customers’ own materials. We have listed our suggested materials here but you can request any fabric or leather samples you want. You can also supply your own if this is more convenient.

Bespoke services: We offer a fully bespoke service. You have complete freedom in terms of the style, the sizes and covering materials. Contact us with your needs or specific requirements and we’ll be happy to help you to get the best Sofa. Remember that you can change the sizes of the arms, seats, or combine different materials. In fact you can design your own sofa - and we are ready to deliver it to you in the highest quality you can expect.
