The Florence Fabric Sofa is not quite Rennaissance but like the name, is in traditional Italian Style. It has rounded arms and shaped back cushion.
The Florence Fabric Sofa has arms similar to our Henley and Berwick sofas but that’s where the similarities end. It is a higher sofa with superb extra head support and big enough to make a great statement if you want to impress.
It is elegant and built with traditional materials by traditional methods. The shaped back cushions give it a distinct look. It seats beautifully too and is extremely comfortable.
The standard seat is a cushion seat but the Florence Sofa can be made with buttoned seat or fixed back
The history: The Florence Sofa name is taken from Florence, the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany and of the province of Florence. Named World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982 because of its outstanding cultural or natural importance. Florence lies on the Arno River and is universally known for its history and its importance in the Middle Ages and for the Renaissance period in the area of art and architecture. A centre of medieval European trade and finance, Florence is known as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages. It was ruled by the Medici family and was also the capital of the Kingdom of Italy from 1865 to 1870.
The Florence sofa is normally supplied with seat cushions but like all our products can be made to customer’s specifications, including fixed seat, with or without buttons. It can also be tailor made to your own size and requirements. If you want a smaller or larger Florence Sofa or one with a bold coloured fabric to make a statement or just a more conservative look, let us know and we’ll do the rest.
The manufacturing:
The Florence Sofa is handmade in England by Master Craftsmen with decades of experience in high quality furniture manufacturing using traditional materials and methods. Every piece is made to order and double checked to make sure that your furniture serves you for years to come.
During the manufacturing we only use the highest quality solid beech hardwood frames. All our furniture joints are dowelled and glued. Stress points are also screwed to ensure durability. The seat platforms are steel sprung or webbed with high-tension webbing.
Where cushions are used, they are filled with either memory foam or reflex fibre although other options like feather are also available according to your personal needs and for optimum comfort.
Covering materials: It can be covered as shown here in fabric, leather, waterproof materials or customer own materials. We’ve listed our suggested materials here but you can request any fabric or leather samples you want. You can also supply your own.
